Este año los comités se han decantado más por la segunda opción, y así esta semana han premiado la inmunoterapia contra el cáncer, técnicas de luz láser que permiten cirugías más eficientes o estrategias para diseñar biocombustibles o medicamentos basadas en lo que la evolución hace de forma natural. Y cada día reconociendo la labor de varias personas, porque la ciencia es cada vez más necesariamente una labor de equipo.
Y, por fin, este año, han vuelto a existir las científicas. Es posiblemente una noticia lateral al contenido, pero no menos importante que la relevancia de las investigaciones premiadas. El que sólo hubieran sido galardonadas dos mujeres en física y cuatro en química en más de un siglo (en total 5, porque Marie Curie recibió los dos premios) era más que absurdo, una vergüenza. Ahora que se comienza a normalizar algo que tenía que haber sido siempre así, hay voces, trasnochadas por muy científicos que sean, que se duelen de presuntos cupos para asegurar la paridad, como si lo oprobioso no hubiera sido el apartheid practicado en cien años. Así son las cosas de los machistas, aunque sean físicos teóricos.
