Desde hace 4 años celebramos los 11 de febrero el día de la mujer y la niña en la ciencia. ¿Antes? Nada: es decir, por supuesto que ellas, vosotras, estábais, como habéis estado siempre en todos los ámbitos, pero invisibilizadas, con peores condiciones, ningún reconocimiento y encima sometidas al imperio de los hechos consumados. Celebremos estos días ahora que el papel de las mujeres en ciencia se puede reivindicar públicamente, con datos aplastantes, de la mano ya también de unas leyes que reclaman una especial dedicación para que la mitad de la población no esté desaparecida, cobrando menos, en puestos subsidiarios o puesta en cuestión por dedicarse a algo que parecía parcela exclusiva del patriarcado. La ciencia es cosa de chicas, lo fue siempre a pesar de que lo hayan negado tanto (como los cuidados son también labor de chicos aunque no se nos invitaba a ello). Es como lo de los Premios Nobel que por esta columna hemos comentando tantas veces: la noticia del año pasado no era solamente que Donna Stricklan recibiera una parte del premio de física, sino que en más de un siglo solamente dos mujeres lo habían hecho antes. Igual que Frances Arnold, la quinta mujer en recibir el premio Nobel de química. ¿Y antes?
Cuando afortunadamente disponemos ahora de esa mirada, de esa demostración de las mujeres de la ciencia y la tecnología que no sólo pueden estar liderando la investigacion, sino que además deberían hacerlo porque la inclusión y la igualdad propician mejores resultados y de más calidad, tenemos que recordar que esto viene como quien dice de ayer mismo, que tenemos que mantener estas políticas y esta vocación con fuerza porque en la sombra sigue habiendo una inercia de siglos que podría pretender robarnos el derecho de todas las personas a poder mejorar el mundo.
